A Yoda Kaynoe

Our Stake just started a group called Young Married Couples (yes...we still qualify) and this last Friday they hosted a Pinewood Derby. So here is what we came up with. We partnered on the idea but the execution was all Darren. Didn't he do a great job!?

The beginning stages....sanding away.

It may look like a surf board or skate board...but it's not. It's a Kaynoe!! We were shooting for a kayak but in the beginning it looked more like a canoe, so we just made up our own name (kayak + canoe = kaynoe)

Go Yoda! Way to wield that paddle...um...Q-Tip.

Quite the transformation eh? I think it turned out great! I did contribute by drawing the lines.

He's all ready for the race. May the Force be with him.

"Win we will and happy we will be. Yessss."

Let's hope he doesn't fall out...yikes!

Our car was not the fastest of the bunch but we did win "The Most Creative" award.
Hey...we'll take it!! :)

Here are some of the other racers:

A Weekend Retreat

This last weekend, Darren and I drove up to Blue Ridge Reservoir near Pine, AZ and did some hiking and day camping. There were lots of people canoeing and kayaking. We'll definitely have to rent one of those and come back. Another fun, summer weekend.

This sure is heaven after a busy week in the city.

We decided to do an easy campfire dinner. Soup and lavash. Yum!!

See that stuff drying on the rock by the campfire? No...that's not toilet paper. It our lavash. When we pulled it out of the cooler it was soggy, wet. Gross! So instead of throwing it away, we decided to toast it on a rock. It worked really well! As grandma always says: Waste not, want not.
